Hey there - I recently bought The Void on steam, but when I try to launch it nothing comes up at all - steam displays that I am in a game for about a second, then goes back to normal. I tried reinstalling, but no luck. Is there a fix to this problem?

There have been a number of problems when trying to play The Void on Steam, but I've personally never heard this one before.

I know you probably already have, but I'll ask anyway, have you checked to see if other games work? If they don't, try reinstalling Steam.

Assuming other games are fine, have you double checked the system requirements are met? This can cause problems, obviously.

What is your screen resolution? Large screen resolutions can cause the game to do weird things.

Last thing: When you click 'Play' to start the game, does a box pop up first asking whether you want to Play The Void or mess with the Configuration? It should do this. If it doesn't, it indicates the problem is more likely with your Steam than with the game.

Yeah - other games work just fine.
They are quite easily met I assume, being able to play the witcher 2 at a decent fps, amongst most AAA titles released recently.
I'm running 1680x1050, I just tested by changing it to 1280x800 and I got the same error.
It does show the box, clicking the configuration button will result in the same problem though...

Doing that has been known to also fix other problems. Give it a shot, and see if anything different happens.

That didn't work either sadly...

Check the game integrity within steam see if it helps.

Your best bet would be contact Halfgild with the logs from the game. I'm sure he can help you better than us.

I will update this post with a fix if I ever get one, incase others are having the same issue.

Hmm. According to the wiki page, Halfgild is actually listed as a former staff member. Maybe he left?

As for ideas... I'm really not sure. The only thing that makes sense to me (especially if you've already tried reinstalling) is that something in your hardware is incompatible with The Void. I've never heard of a game being so much trouble to start on Steam except due to hardware issues. I'm not saying that your PC doesn't meet requirements, but perhaps The Void just isn't compatible with your graphics card, for example. I'm only guessing, of course.

If you have the download limit to spare, try reinstalling once more. In fact, if you feel really committed, try reinstalling Steam too. See if there's any difference.

I'll see if I can get Hydra or WhiteWind in here as I know they speak english (well not sure about Hydra9), worse case senario I can try Ayrat.

You should find the game logs in \My documents\My games\or TheVoid\LogFiles\ and sent them along with the the DxDiag logs to Ayrat. He should be the best person to help you.

My memory is extremely rusty when it comes to issues with The Void, especially on Steam - the version I have never had myself to begin with. Try locating game.log in the corresponding \Documents\My Games\The Void folder and exception.txt, which is also there. The latter is only generated (and rewritten)whenever the game crashes. So if you don't have it, either the game doesn't think it crashes or it doesn't even launch.

The developers are also going to need your dxdiag in order to know what system are you trying to run the game on.

Sorry for the delay on posts - was away. Anyway, I wasn't able to find game.log exception.txt, I did find a XML file named game in my data file though, that's all I can find related the The Void. Here's my dxdiag.
