I was able to kill the midget very easily with these hands. The 2 thieves by the railroad station were much more dificult, but manageable.

Several times since then, I saw thieves accosting people in the street and went to help the victims. I wasn't able to kill any more thieves with my hands. They just turn around and slaughter me! Does this mean I have to adopt a policy of sneaking around town, staying out of sight of thieves and bombers because I have no ability to counter-attack?

I know I can use a derringer (only allowable weapon?), but it's unaffordable. Only Gryph sells one, and he wants 25 grand for it! Klara doesn't seem to have the same resources for making money that the other player characters have. Goods and money from slain thieves and bombers can add up quickly.

If I remember correctly your hands deal damage only when the crosshair is on target at the end of attack animation (the hand wave). Actually, I found Klara the best killing machine of all, for she has an infinite middle-range weapon. )) The tactic is to run backwards and attack the thieves running after you. They die from 3-4 hits.

I knew about the crosshairs, but assumed she had to be within touching distance to kill -- ie, very close up. Thanks for that info -- I'll test it out.

I did learn that I should place the crosshairs on the ai's head for best effect. Head shots seem the most effective for all weaponry in this game. I was going too much for the throat and/or heart.
