I have installed Directx 9.0c but when i try to install the game my CD/DVD drive makes some unpleasant noises and the setup freezes. When i eject the game, i get an error message saying "runtime error at 1:215, the device is not ready". I don't know what to do.

Unfortunately, it sounds as though there's something wrong with the DVD, or with your DVD-drive.

Try installing on a different computer, to test the disc, if possible.

Well, I recently installed the Thief games from the complete collection DVD, so it is likely that there is a problem with The Void itself. I'll try another computer when I can. By the way, it was ordered from Amazon. Have there been problems with them before?

Changed :)

If there's a manufacturing error with the DVD, it's not Amazon's fault, and it could've happened wherever you bought it. At the same time, a manufacturing fault seems unlikely... Best to try it on another computer (even one that can't necessarily play the game) - Just to see if you can install it.

Well, It was possible to install it on my friends PC, which is strange. At first I thought it might be due to my CD/DVD drive not being able to go up to 8x speed, but the splash/options menu where you can choose to install the game comes up, so that cannot be it. I have the necessary hardware specs to play the game so I don't think that's the problem either.

The only solution I can think of is to download a copy and try to play that one instead.

You've bought the game, so I don't think you should feel bad about downloading a pirate copy. It does sound like the best fix for the problem :?
