Hmm i maybe have an idea you could try, but not sure if it would work though..

If i recall correctly you haveWindows Vista installed correct? I don't suppose you have a install disk of windows XP lying around? (or perhaps could borrow it from someone)

Edit: I had to browse a bit on a different forum where i'v read about this.. Theres a program called *Microsoft VirtualPC* I havn't used it myself or downloaded it myself. But it seems to be free software you should be able to download from microsoft.. Don't ask me how it works.. as i don't really have uch information on it myself, but you could look into it. unless someone here knows about this software.

The next scentence i'v copied from that forum..:

*After VirtualPC is installed, you need to create a virtual computer, using a Windows XP install CD. Only software rendering works under VirtualPC.*

I'm not sure if thats a big issue for The void or if thats true as i'm unfamiliar with the program. The forum of wich game this came from, is alot older. The game has issues installing/working properly on Vista/windows7 so people try'd this. I don't know much about the program itself. But i just remembered it just now.

Update!!!

My hard drive died a week ago and I had to get it replaced. I figured I'd try to install The Void again since I was reinstalling everything anyway, and I'd have a clean slate.

IT WORKED!

I discovered one interesting thing about my old antivirus, AVG free: It never turns off. I had been killing the process from the task manager (and there's about 8 of them for AVG free that run in the background). This is the fun part: About a minute after you turn off the AVG processes, they respawn themselves in the background. So I thought it was off when it really wasn't the whole time.

My advice for the next person having trouble installing The Void: Don't just turn your antivirus off, uninstall it. Personally, I'm never using AVG again - what a pain in the ass!

Thank you guys a million, you've made a phenomenal game and were incredibly patient and dedicated to my problem. Sorry for all the trouble.

Anti-virus software is a royal pain in the bum at the best of times. I remember on more than one occasion from my former Warcraft days that fateful line "Ok guys, I'm pulling the boss now and....oh crap, McAfee just popped up," followed by the sound of screaming on Teamspeak.
