Hi folks, bit stuck here
Heres what ive done so far
Ive got the heart from the sister, (in my leg)
IVe killed everything in bottom balls/levels
Ive planted trees in the garden ball
ive given the sister both colors by drawing the shapes.

But now when i try to to the next balls/levels, she keeps saying she has no strength. When i go back to the tree with the sister, it still showes the "press ctrl" text at the bottom, as if its telling me that ive not completed this part. But i keep drawing the shapes time and time again, on both green and gold. The first time i did it she stood up, but then kind of fell down again, then she said something.. I did this again for the gold, and she did the same thing (so i assume ive done something successfully there),.. but no amount or restarting the game, and drawing the shapes will make the next balls/levels accessible. Ive no idea what im doing wrong. I have to keep re-starting the game beacuse every time i try draw the shapes, i run out.

Also, im not sure what the numbers on the balls mean on the void
the next two balls usually have 8, or 6 on them.
In the garden level.. ive planned trees (or i assume i have, by draw ing shapes and making the trees glow? is that "Planting a tree"?)... but i also notice the blue tree at the start has numbers or something, and it says to right click, when i right click the numbers go down.. Ive no idea what this number is and what its for. The other trees do nothing, when i stand close it just keeps saying about they wont work untill the next cyccle.

So on the balls in the void, i dont know what the numbers mean. also in the garden on the first tree. should i match the number on the tree with a ball? i tried that and i still can go to the other balls.

Also there is a gold ball in the void, i can go there, but i click and i cant go in there. i try draw shapes but nothing happens. How can i enter this area?

In the bottom left ball, there is a cliff thing.. i jumped down there and found an area, with some glowing things on the ground, and a fence all around. Im not sure what do to here. I tried planting trees there but it wont work. Also the glowing things i cant pickup. I cant find a gate out of there, apart from the portal back to the void. There is what looks like a child's sandbox with cans, and a chair their also. Do i do something with theses to open a gate?

Things ive tried

Ive looked everywhere in the other balls/levels for clues to help me proceed, but i just cant seem to work out what im doing wrong or what im supposed to do next.

Ive read a walkthough, and it gets to the part where I must give the sister the 2 hearts by drawing the correct shapes. But i cant seem to get past that part, all she dose is stand up then sit back down.. then after the "ctrl" text is still displayed at the bottom, like the game is still prompting me to draw it again?

What do i do here?. Do i draw many of them? do i have to draw in reverse, like from the bottom up?.. Do i combine the shapes in the top right corner with the shape down the bottom?. I dont understand this.
The sister keeps giving me the impression that ive done something beacuse the game shows the animated sequence of her standing up then it looks like she falls back or gets pulled back by something. I dunno even how to describe it. Its when u draw the shape the game goes into an animation .. the sister has glowing things around her, then she flatens herself out looking like shes standing or floating. then slowly falls back gently, or as if there is somthing attacted to her waist that is pulling her back. Then the game goes back to the normal playing mode with the "ctrl" in white text still displayed.
No matter how many times i do this, for both gold and green, as soon as i go to the void (map of balls) and i try go to the next ones with the strange numbers (usualy 8 or 6).. she says something like her strength is not enough for her to get me there.

I really dont know, and have spent days trying different things. I cant use the walkthrough beacuse its telling me to do somthing that i think ive done but it wont let me proceed

Is there anyone smart out there that can help me understand what im doing wrong? how to proceed, and what the numbers on the balls are for?, and also what is the area with the glowing things and metal fence for?. and also what is the number on the blue glowing tree all about, and should i set the number to something?

I hope someone can help.. looks like a nice game (based on some videos ive seen) but im getting sick and tired and fed up of restarting the game and tirelessly walking around the only 4 areas that are open to me hopelessly looking for clues as to what to do next.. im completly lost, cant proceed, no idea what the numbers are, a little confused as to the whole color system. ...etc etc etc

The numbers on trees are the number of drops of color in the tree. When you draw color from the tree, there is less left in the tree.
You have to fill your heart(s) with the color and let them drain to be able to give color to the sister.
When you give nameless sister enough color (important thing is the number for the shape, not how many times you draw it), you will be able to go to the next chambers.

I do not know what you are talking about with the other chambers on the map having numbers like 6 or 8. Maybe you can take a screenshot of this.

All sisters have 4 empty hearts at start. You need to fill their hearts with their preferred colors (in this case, Gold and Emerald) to proceed in the game. One filled heart unlocks all the chambers (or "balls") in that sister's realm. Two filled hearts unlocks the path to next sisters' chambers.
It's not the number 8, it's a symbol for a sister. The ball in the middle with the number 8 on it is that sister's chamber. The other balls connected to that ball are her realm, there's usually a reservation with enemies in it, and a garden or a mine.
Yes, that's planting a tree. You feed the dead tree with color, wait for the cycle to end, then go back and harvest the color from the tree. The number on a tree means how many drops of color you can get from it. Revived trees last for several cycles, with diminishing color returns, until they die off and need to be revived again (there's a small cooldown period between a tree dying and being able to revive it again.
That's The Adit. It's a special chamber that doesn't serve any purpose until much later on.
That area is an easter egg, a reference to the developer's first game Pathologic. There's nothing you can do there.
Look in the bottom left corner of the screen. It should show your progress towards unlocking a heart when you move your mouse cursor over it.
The more color you put into drawing the shape, the more color you're giving to her.
The animation plays every time you feed her with color. There's normally a line of dialogue after the animation, if not then you've already gone through all her dialogue for the time being.

Thanks so much for the quick replies folks, they have been very helpful indeed. After playing a little more Im relising just how tough this game really is. You really have to think outside the box to make progress in this game. I knew it was a tricky game to play before I got it, but didnt think it was this hard.

Ill admit ive now had to resort to using a couple of cheats which I feel really bad about since Im usually good at these sorts of games (i use "these sorts of games" lightly in this case)
Saying all that im really really enjoying the experience, Im big into surrealism, the darker the better,.. art in general, music, film..etc etc, so this game is like a dream come true for me, even tho I had to cheat a little.

No doubt I may need some help in the near future, so I thank you guys once again for the help.
