Hi Guys,

Just got the game and i was wondering if there is any way to disable the 'view bob' while walking? You know, the simulated walking head bobbing. Unfortunately I seem to be prone to getting motion sickness from this effect and it's really no fun to feel like I'm on a high sea ship in a storm after about half an hour of playing. :C
Hope anyone can help?

Cheers,
Telamon

Have you tried walking? (hold shift on non-sister chambers)

Although walking is not advised for certain confrontations. ;)

Hi Throdax,

nope, doesn't help i'm afraid. Still getting motion sickness. The awkward camera head bobbing still persits albeit its slower. But eventually the motion sickness kicks in nonetheless. It's a pity really. I do want to enjoy playing the game but i can't because it makes me feel sick -.-

Cheers,
Telamon

This may sound silly but what you probably need is a crosshair or aiming reticle - something for your eyes to focus on. If you have an CRT monitor take a small circular sticker and put it in the middle of the screen so you can focus on that and have a center. If not, use something like game overlay (http://www.gameoverlay.com) and open a very small window in the background around the center of the screen. Taping two pieces of very fine thread (one centered vertically one horizontally) to your monitor's edges adding some white chalk or paint at the center where they meet can work in a pinch - be creative haha. I remember Mirror's edge did something similar to combat motion sickness (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/how-m ... -sickness/) - might work anyways, so give it a shot : p

Have a good one,

Hi Corsair,

thanks for the tips. Tried the point in the middle thing but doesn't help at all. I actually seems to amplify the Head Bobbing effect for me because it gives me a fix point which shows me how much the view is riding on the waves, so to speak. Although it might help with spinning motions, i don't know.
Read the article on Mirror's Edge you posted. Interrestingly they note that head bobbing was removed from that game. Makes sense for me ;D.

From my impression this simulator sickness, as they call it, is caused by the sideway motion of the head bob. Notice that when you run in real life you have a more up/down motion of closer objects relative to your view. Funny thing how by trying to make movement in a game more realistic one can actually achieve quite the opposite effect.

I'd really appreciate a console command or something to switch this feature off at this point in time.
