Hi!

I'm at the stage where the Brothers who doesn't trust you challenge you to a fight, around the 23th cycle. Whaler, Pit and Ironclad. It looks like it's random which one of them appear first, and because of lots of reloading, I fought all three of them a few times before I could finally kill Whaler. So I have a few questions regarding combat.

1. The circles in the upper right corner - the highlighted color is the one the enemy is currently vulnerable to? I followed this logic, and it seemed working, but I thought I ask just to be sure. :) EDIT: Okay, stupid me, I just checked the manual and it's in there. :)

2. Killing Whaler was a lot easier than the other ones (which I didn't manage to kill). Whaler was charging at me and I bombarded him with the Wasp spell, and it did good damage and he went down relatively easily. However, when fighting Pit or Ironclad, I couldn't deal as much damage to them as to Whaler and ended using up my Nerva before I could finish them. So the question is: is killing Whaler that much easier or every brother has some kind of weakness or trick I have to figure out that will make them easier to kill?

3. Also when fighting Whaler, the circles in the upper right corner - they didn't disappear as he lost health, it was still three circles when he went down. Is this normal? I noticed in other fights, that the circles disappear as the enemy loses health.

4. Not related to the above, but does the Beasts' chambers contain hearts? I mean the chambers of the pangolin, the whale and the worm creature. I know there is one in the pangolin's which I already got, but since I don't plan to kill these creatures (didn't kill the pangolin either) I'm curious if I should search their chambers or not.

Thanks, and btw, The Void is a fantastic and unique game, I love it. It's good to have developers like IPL ... gives me some hope and reason to continue caring about the gaming industry. :)

1- :D

2- All the brother have different HP values and incidentally Ironclad has the most ;) Most of them have trick to fight them effectively but like I said all have different HP and the only weak point are the colour rings.

3- Whaler only has the outer ring of colour. Confusing I know. :(

4- Lemma (whale) has a heart and so does the Worm in their chambers.

Hi! Brothers have different amont of health. Ironclad is the toughest of them.
Pit has slightly more HP than Whaler, but you see, Whaler becomes stronger and faster with each head, yet simultaneously his defence against your attack drops. Driller has attack you should probably defend yourself against using lympha, and his characteristics do not change during the fight. (and also, your Golems may explode when they hit his drills)

Yes, it seems this battle is unique in this respect. I heard it was left like this on purpose, bu don't remember why.

Yes, they do. Pangolin even has an additional heart at the other exit (he has "Magnet" there, so probably it's of no use if you took it at Ima's place). Anyway, these chambers have colour. so it may be useful to have them at your disposal (AFAIK, in this new version the giants die forever). Though, it seems to me that in "Lemna" there are no plants or small creatures until you have killed the giant.

I seem to be stuck here to.
I for one cannot defeat Pit(Driller). How exactly should I protect myself from his drills? They just go around me and hit me no matter what. The Shell ritual is obviously useless since you can't do anything when it's activated(it should have been able to cast glyphs, I honestly don't know why it was included if it operates in this matter, maybe to compensate the fact that when you enter a chamber it's possible to be attacked without a warning?), Haste likewise because I can run around forever but at the moment the drills disappear so does Pit ergo I can't attack him.
The only tactic I've been able to come out with that just might work is put Shell on, try to catch all the drills then attack Pit when the room is clear but I was'nt been able to get around that yet and I have a funny feeling that he'll go back in to the ground as soon as I get rid of all the drills, hoping for some better input around here as the aforementioned tactic would deplete Nerva before I finnish him of.

Use repulse near you to ward of the drills.

Well I guess that was the problem - I don't have Repulse(preetty obvious name I think, would have used if I had it). I'll try a Hysteric based tactic or just reload until I get Ironclad(him I can beat) and then hope I'll get Repulse until I reach Pit. Is there a specific place where I can find it or it's random?

Update:
Well I guess it's random, I've beaten Ironclad instead by reloading a few times until the program selected him and eventually reached 18 hearts - thing is still no Repulse between them, if he comes at me maybe I'll get lucky with Magnet. If it is such a decisive glyph for a battle then it should have a fixed place, generally be available earlier than the 25th cycle. It's quite clear that Pit is impossible to beat without it(or I'm doing something very wrong), there is no way to avoid those drills, you will get hit at least by two, one if you're really lucky per round. To that issue the fact that you can't do any sort of considerable damage to the brother doesn't help. Maybe Magnet will be the salvation.
I'm guessing these are the mandatory brother fights quickly implemented in the english version, am I right?

I reached a point where the Brothers will start questioning sisters and I guess they'll kill them? Well, I don't know, but I decided to try and save one. They chose Uta, and the one who goes there is Mantid. I tried challenging him to a fight, but he is invulnerable all the time - the circles in the upper right corner are grey. So, basically I can't harm him. Can Mantid be defeated? Also, should I try to save the sisters?

You have to wait until Mantid starts to feed on the colour Globs.

It is worth to save the sisters, especialy if you whant to let one escape.

Allright, just one more question. How am I supposed to "draw the Breakthrough glyph on myself"?

Go to the Chamber right above the Nameless Sister's place. If you have your body and your Palette full, you'll see what to do next.

You have to fill your hearts first and then enter the Adit. Took me like 10 minutes to figure that out

Also, if I remember correctly, the journal lists this explicitly as a quest. :)

Yeah that was my problem as well. But I got it now and finished the game and managed to see two endings (Self, Ima). Really good game, it was quite an experience, I loved it.

Btw, are the final poems available somewhere in written form? The game didn't have subtitles in those scenes, and sometimes it was hard to understand.
