So I gave The Void to a friend of mine as a holiday present. He hasn't tried it yet, but I want to avoid spoiling too much of the game for him. Myself, I know a lot more about the game than I should, given how far I've gotten in it, mostly from reading these forums. That doesn't bother me, but I suspect he'd like to discover things for himself.

However, I feel like I should tell him something about the real effects of Silver when it's in your hearts. The current description in the journal says something about it being "Luck" and making random effects more likely to help you. When I first saw that, I thought Silver sounded pretty worthless. After finding out about it on here, I realize it's a very important color. And, I might be misremembering, but I thought I saw one of the devs post that they meant to change the current description in the journal, but it got overlooked.

But the problem is, what could I tell him about what Silver does that doesn't give too much away? It takes awhile before characters in the game start hinting about how your Nerva use is damaging the domains, so telling him straight up that Silver reduces damage you cause to the domains seems like it would be too much of a spoiler...

I think by the time Silver appears in the game one of the sisters has already mentioned that colours damages theyr realms..
Also, don't you think he might come to these forums despite that the might want to do discover things himself. maybe for technical issues if they arise.

Throughout the game noone mentions the true meaniing of silver i think, so he might never find out unless he browses these forums or unless you tell him..
But knowing what a colour really does.. is quite important aspect of the game..

Ha ha! I don't, actually. Or, at least, not for anything other than technical issues, and even then he'd probably be more likely to end up somewhere like the Steam forums.

You're probably right about when silver appears... I AM currently playing using a fan-made "easy mode" patch that someone posted on the forums here which gives you 50 of every color of Nerva at the start, so I was able to grow some Silver trees right off the bat.

What I'm really curious about is whether I was imagining reading a dev saying that the current description of the effects of Silver in the journal were intended to have been replaced with something else. Maybe I'll try to dig around and see if I can find who said that (or determine that I made it up), but if so I'm wondering how they would have described it instead. The current "luck" description makes me think "Phhhh. Worthless." Though I suppose if it was obviously very rare and I found it when I've already got like 10 hearts or so I might load up on some "just in case."

Well a colour has 2 effects, beneficial and a disadvantage, so i read befor.. lol

As for silver, i dont know if it brings luck.. but i believe what i read on this forum, so silver inside your hearts generaly only reduces the damage dealt to the sisters realm.
More colours apear as you go further into the game, at the start i believe only gold and green are available followed by blue and red shortly after. Then as you continue further violet and amber. and last one to apear is silver... if i'm right.

Also you dont get alot of the *new* colour when it apears so you have to start growing it when you get it, and then it'l apear more often aswell as time goes by.
I dont think i'v read anything about changing the description in the game though.. perhaps over looked it..

Neh I think it is random since I got silver in round 5 or 6 on my first attempt together with blue. on the second attempt which I`m still playing with I didn't get silver until round 7 after I had crimson and violet.

Also one of the earlier sisters tells you a lot about the colours (don't know her name but it's the one with the red petals wanting amber and violet) at some point she spoke while I was about to fill up a tree with silver saying that silver reduces the damage to a domain.

This was around cycle 12 I think. I think this is triggered when you either use a glyph or fill up a tree with a colour and you will get a bit of chat about what the colour does but that was about 5 cycles ago for me which in real time was about 2 weeks now for me. I go through it that slowly.

Yeah, Ava tells you about what a bunch of the Colors do when in your Hearts after you first go to her garden. So exactly what "damage to the realms" means is unclear at that point, but she lets you know what Silver does earlier than I expected. Though the description of Silver in the in-game journal IS still really bad, in my opinion. It says it gives you a better chance to do well in random events, but that isn't the case at all.

Maybe I'll just tell my friend that the journal entry on Silver is inaccurate/misleading and that it's a very good color to have available to put in your Hearts and leave it at that.
