As I was walking into town, I began thinking about the fights with the Brothers and how you have to adapt your glyphs and tactics for each fight. Then it hit me - why should arenas purely be limited to Brother encounters?

The way I imagine a multiplayer duel would work would be this:

* Each player starts with all available hearts and glyphs
* Before entering the arena, the player would start in a small ante-chamber with three doorways in front. Each doorway would lead to a garden or mine dedicated to one particular colour
* The choice of colours would be Red, Emerald and Azure, as these are the ones more suited to combat
* In combat, golems can be destroyed as well as the player - for example, you could try and place down the three golems needed to fire off Ritual, but an enemy player can destroy them before they are completed
* Unlike Brother duels, time does not stop when a player draws a Glyph - Glyphs have to be cast on the fly and offers up an interesting choice; do you fire off lots of simple, weak golems like Hawk or do you charge up a single heavy duty Owl?

I'm under no illusions that this will ever happen - it is merely a thought experiment. How do you picture a multiplayer mode to be? Perhaps a "Ascend the Sister" mode where you have to deliver enough Colour to your Sister before the opposing team does?

A 10-player free-for-all match, with every player controlling a different brother

I did consider whether players should take control of Brothers for duels and what not but decided that it wouldn't fit in with the storyline. Granted, not all the Brothers get along but there's never any hint that they would start fighting each other. However, several "heroes" like the one we control in singleplayer would make a lot more sense, storywise.

"These lost souls, bereft of home and succor, now fight amongst themselves, desperately grasping for the last few drops of Colour and an eternity in the Nightmare."

Just chucking 2c in. I always got the feeling while playing through the Void that you were forging a relationship with the sisters based on trust, and a lot of what you would choose to do would depend on how you viewed and felt about them. For example. I couldn't stand Aya, Una or Ava while Uma, Ita and Nameless Sister I was always fond of. Throughout the time playing though I never felt any of them were truly worth ascending so chose to ascend myself.

How about where the player would be under the banner of a sister, to an extent they were all out purely for themselves in a colour induced stupor, why not make it formal and fight for them directly? Would essentially come down as a team deathmatch unless it came more towards harvesting colour for your chosen sister in a race to ascension?

Also got the feeling that there was a sense of co-operation between some sisters, almost a true elder and younger sister relationship, perhaps the ability to create alliances between groups, all the while as sisters get closer to ascension the number of predators increase, topped with the attention of the brothers being garnered.

Team Throdax under Ole will be holding a recruitment drive starting April 12th ;) :D
