I'm having real trouble finding a place that sells Tension at all, let alone one that'll mail it to the UK. Do you know of any online shops that'll let me import the game?

I'm not sure, whether http://www.ozon.ru/ delivers outside Russia, but you should check that place first - it's the Russian analog of Amazon. The gift edition is still available. The excange rate is 1 USD = 25 rubles.
Hope this is of any help.
Some time ago I offered to send Tension by mail to people, but, unfortunately, had no time to do this. Sorry.

Well. I've got up to the checkout part but the translation tool isn't showing any of the foreign countries choices as the UK or Scotland. I extracted the list of names to here: http://www.mediafire.com/?8jodet8rdyn

Are any of these United Kingdom?

I checked it out - unfortunately, no, you can't deliver stuff outside Russia from there, sorry. I'll check out another online shop a bit later. Stick around. :)

http://www.bolero.ru/ - these guys deliver outside Russia, but it depends on the location. UK should look like "Великобритания" or "Greta Britain" on the list - it's a more common name for UK in Russia. But they only have the normal edition, the gift edition is much better.

I think the other shop was out of stock of the gift edition anyway so I'll take whatever I can get. Although if anyone finds a gift edition that'll deliver to the UK I'll buy that too. Twice.

Edit: Ow holy christ according to this site the game itself costs 8 pounds but the shipping is 45. I don't suppose it was released in any digital download formats in Russia...

It was... :) Try http://gamedep.ru/ :)
BTW, the nglish version will be different from the Russian, so if you want to use this to understand whether to buy this game or not - wrong criteria. :)

Sounds bad...makes me think it's going to be toned down or something for the US market who thinks nudity is evil.

Maybe I should buy the russian version too just to see how it will be different.

Well I just bought it from GameDep and after submitting payment to an external site (Allsoft.ru) I am redirected back to GameDep and this message: "Data page is temporarily unavailable. Try to repeat the request later. We apologize for the inconvenience."

I will give it some time. And then flip out.

(By the way, I am not using this as a buyer's guide. I don't need one. After Pathologic I would pay 40 pounds for Ice Pick's leftover table scraps.)

Edit: It's okay payment went through eventually. Although I have to wait until 9am on Monday morning to get the game, even though it's a digital download. Curious.

2Egglet: Welcome to the still young Russian market! :) Things like this happen a lot, since they just recently started working... Hope you get the game soon - when you do PM me - I'll try to send you subtitles.

Good morning,

Having been lurking around from some time now, I saw this thread today and was pretty exited as I have been trying to get my hands on this game for quite some time.

Even if it is Russian and I don't understand a thing, art and beauty like this in a game deserves to be supported and as such I have purchased a digital copy from gamedep.ru just like Egglet (although I'm still waiting for the last page to clear thru, just like Egglet).

Even so, I'll buy the english version if/when it is released as like I said games that are art deserve to be supported.

As for the English differences as far as I can tell, having watched trailer in English and Russian and also some interviews and screen shots, in the English version the nudity will be "slightly censored".

Anyway, good job, good game, great art, you deserve my support.

[EDIT]: A few hours later. Oh well apparently the game can't be activated outside russia, so no go.

The support is well earned, I guess I'll have to wait for the English version.

2Throdax: Good time of day to you to! :)
Thanks for your words and support! :)

In order to activate, try using free Russian proxy, changing the regional settings in Windows ;)

Yeah, I discovered the final email with download details ended up in my spam folder and just hit the same problem with the region lock. Changing the region in Windows doesn't seem to work so I'll try the proxy now. Although I have no idea how to find one.

Okay, I figured out how to do it after jumping through some hoops.

First I changed the Windows LAN proxy settings to effectively break my connection. When the activation dialog couldn't get in touch with the server (don't know whether just plain disconnecting will bring up the same thing) it gave me a hardware code and told me to go to a page at http://www.nd.ru/activate/ to get an activation key. Unfortunately this is also region locked. Luckily it's a lot easier to proxy in a browser than it is in an application. I set Firefox to use the proxy 119.70.40.101:8080 from http://www.checker.freeproxy.ru/checker ... roxies.php and it went through okay. Make sure you check the proxy is working by trying to visit other pages before you try and get your activation code.

Now if you will excuse me I am going to check whether this battle is over or not.

Yeah, I got it working last night true the activation page using a russian proxy.

Once you have the activation code, the game doesn't region check AFAIK.

Thank you for the sugestion LxR.

Trying to play a game while you have no clue what is beeing said and how to play is fun :D

[EDIT]: I'll try and translate the manual a bit, at least the symbols part :D go go google translate (Fortunatly russian translates fairly well to my language)

Tension's gameplay has got much backbone elements, although it's imperative that you understand what glyphs do. Their effects are given in the manual and I presume you can ask the LxR to share the English manual if it's possible.

Your attitude reminds me of the days when I played jap. FFVII, though I don't speak Japanese one bit. Unlike JRPGs Tension is very difficult, you really need to survive and I mean it. Well, good luck on that part.

Well, already in day 20, killed 2 bad guys, and seduced the first two sisters to level 2 (besides the original maxed out sister) and I have around 10 glyths I think :)

All this without understanding a word :D

My personal opinion of the game?

It is a moving and breathing work of art. Every light, every polygon, every texture are in the right place.

The girls are pretty realistic.
The big guys are very original
The levels, although small, are highly detailed and imaginative.
The system of the game itself ends up beeing intuitive.

Basicly, to me, this what creating a game is. Creating an masterpiece in a world already filled with bland games in every corner.

I think russia has a great potential for trully great games as seen in Paradise Cracked, Cops 2170: The Power of Law, Pathalogic, X-Blades (aka Oniblade) and now Tension/Turgor/Typrop.

So in the end, I love it :D

2Throdax: Just in case... The game ends on day 35, you'll need 21 glyphs by then. (Unlock the whole maze, upgrade all the stationary sisters once.)

I'm glad you liked Tension. :) (And I'm glad you mentioned Paradise Cracked! :) )

Also, I think you shouldn't leave out STALKER. Technically, it's an Ukrainian game, but yet it's still post-Soviet space, the same mentality and atmosphere. They recently released a full-scale prologue: Stalker: Clear Sky, and in my opinion, it's a lot better than the original.

In that case I'm screwed :) Since there are some girls I can't stand and refuse to visit :D

Oh well, practice makes perfection. Then again, I finaly got the anchor glyth last night (the one that looks like an hourglass) so now from what I understand I can exctract Lympha from the rocks, which was getting on my nerves having levels full of that and now beeing able to touch it :)

EDIT: Sorry forgot about stalker :( I'm not much into FPS games so although hearing great things about it, I forgot it :(

If you already have the "7" type of tumbleweed, then you don't need to upgrade Eli and Una, if I remember correctly. They give the same glyph. Also - if you think the game is alrady screwed - download the patch from the Russian section of the site. And this hotfix here:
viewtopic.php?t=5031
Extract the hotfix into the game directory. If all is done right data\scripts\tree_sister.bin should appear. Install this after the patch. :)
Also, check PM in a minute.

The glyths I have are:

Донор
Пульс
Перекати-поле
Ястреб
Скорлупа
Медиум
Заговор
Истерика
Паутинка
Гарпун
Промежуток
Овод

The reasson I said I'm screwed is that I take the game slowly so I do see myself conquering all them to day 35 :) Although they are all "alive" cept the first one.

(I did "kill" the first two ones alot in the earlier games before I understoood what to do :P)

Du you mean censored by "different", or it will be something new?
