Don't believe everything you read in that review. As awesome as it is, it contains many (intentional?) inaccuracies. I can't imagine why the author did that, but yeah, just focus on the story the game tells. If you're worried about missing something, just check with the walkthrough after finishing each day (I did that as I was playing). I can't remember if you find out anything about Haruspicus on day 4. If I recall correctly, he doesn't even get imprisoned until later on.

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

I dunno, the article seems to be a bit too detailed about the topic (with the cattle and all) to be just a random claim, but I'm playing both the Bachelor and the Haruspicus parallel and couldn't find any reasons for the trap so far (currently somewhere in the middle of day 5). Maybe the author confused the Bachelor with the Devotress though or the info comes at a later date

No problem, I always like to see activity in these forums (yet it happens so rarely!) :)

It's a shame you're playing in parallel, actually. Part of the game's appeal for me was the way the story paints certain characters as good guys and others as nasty while you play one character, then you get to discover a whole different side of them when playing the other characters. You're really, really supposed to play them in order and imho you're "missing out" if you don't :)

And yes, the article is detailed even when it lies.
even what it says about the ending is not true
:D Though I must admit the "lies" are within the game's spirit so... no harm done?

If you're looking for a more accurate, in-depth retelling of the game's story as it happens, there are two guys who played through the game at the same time, one as the Bachelor and one as the Haruspicus, and blogged about it day-by-day. It doesn't dig quite as deeply into the game's meaning and themes as the Rock-Paper-Shotgun review (though they say they're going to change that), but it's interesting to read how their thinking shifts over time. Also, their reactions to some of the game's odder twists and turns is pretty fun: http://pathologistics.blogspot.com/
