First of all, kudos to the greatest game I've ever played. Sinister games with puzzles are my favorite!

Here's my problem. I have thoroughly read your walkthrough and I don't seem to get one particular scene to advance. It's the scene where...




[SPOILERS AHEAD]




...you take on Young Vlad's quest and go kill the butcher. Done that. I return to him and he thanks me and gives me 2000 money units. The walkthrough says that Young Vlad should mention something about Isidor being wrapped in drapings, reeking of herbal mixtures and mumbling about a disease, but that never happens in my game. I guess this is why I can't find Rubin at the Kain residence (he's neither with Victor nor with George).
Let me also mention that I did not bury the dead body at Angel's. But I'm pretty sure that's optional. Everything else I've done, I think.


Can you help me? It's really freaking me out.

Vlad's quest on killing a butcher is optional. As far as I remember you may look for Rubin after the dialogue about Isidor.
However, it seems that you had only one of possible quest conversations with Young Vlad, so if you speak to him again (this time about your own buisiness) it will probably solve the problem.

OK, thanks, I did talk my way through somehow and got Young Vlad to tell me about the disease outbreak.
Now, I found Rubin at Victor's place, warned them both.... went to George, and he still won't let me examine the body.
Does that mean I finished day 1 anyway? How do I know I passed day 1? Just go to bed or something? George says I have to wait to examine the body, Rubin isn't there anymore (went to get medicine or smth?) and Victor has no more open topics to talk about.


GAAAAH, what do I do now? Did I do something wrong?

I think you did everything you needed to do during the day - if all went as it was supposed to, a new note will appear in the journal with three stars marking that the quest is completed.

while I'm already here... could someone explain how I use a gun? I click on it and it disappears from my inventory, but I'm not holding it....

Use "Tab" to wield the weapon or put it back. If the gun disappears, most likely, you've clicker the wrong mouse button. Wehn a gun is selected it should be with a white frame around it.
