Having problems getting the demo to run. With default settings it goes full screen... and just black! I wait about 5 mins before ending process by which time "Game.exe" is using zero cpu.

Any ideas?

thanks.

I guess my system might help:

1GB ram

I'm itching to try this game! :)

There we go again... :) Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Windows Media 10 Codec for WMV intro playback. If that doesn't help, reinstall DirectX 9.0c and OpenAL (should be in the Demo archive). If that doesn't help post your "dxdiag" here.

Good luck.

Ah thanks! I uninstalled some kind of "media runtime format..." thing and that fixed it. Haven't really had time to play it yet though...

I also have a problem.

When I try to run the .exe file, the egg-timer cursor flashes up for a second, then goes away. Then nothing happens! Any suggestions?

Have you followed my instructions? If yes, and it didn't help, please send your DXdiag.txt.

Have you tried to reinstall the demo? There were no crashes in this place (even before the release), so perhaps your installation is corrupted.

Yes, I did.
Just tried it again and did run into the infected areas, when the cameramode changed to show the illness, it crashed again. it must be an incompatibility with the os... [don't have the possiblitys to compare to a 32bit XP Home currently]

Shouldn't be - I'm using the same OS and practically the same system, and everything works fine. Still, there might be a problem with a built-in audio card - try turning the sounds of in the configuration and run again - it might just work.

It doesn't seem to be the Audigy 2 OB-Chip.
Maybe the RAM, but I doubt it, cause its corsair Value Select RAM, a special offer for VIP Customers of my Hardwaredealer: 4 Gig ;)

Wow... I really envy you. ^_^
I guess the problem is caused by the combination of a 64-bit OS and your processor - maybe you could run the demo from live-cd (search google for "windows PE"), while we try to comprehend the cause of your troubles... Stay tuned...

It seems to work after I installed the latest Gold (non Beta Release) Detonation Drivers for WinXP 64 (namely 84.25) - I had still 82.12 installed because I didn't found the newer ones.

Install DirecX 9.0c. The 'c' is important.

I already got 9.0c..but i guess it couldn't hurt reinstalling it..maybe.

Meh...didn't work..maybe its just my video card..I've been thinking of getting a new one for a while anyways.

Could you please post your dxdiag.txt here, so I could determine the problem for sure?

What exactly is a dxdiag.txt? and how do I go about..finding it?

Author:  Halfgild Wynac [ 27 Apr 2006, 21:58 ]
Post subject:

Well... Your actions are:

1. You should press "Start", then choose "Run" command (perhaps it is smth like "execute" in German, I don't know German Windows).

2. Type "dxdiag".
3. After the diagnostic being completed chose "Save all information" and save data in some .txt- file. This huge file stores a lot of data about your hardware and drivers - the real daydream of any techsupport worker. You may post it here or send to The_LxR by e-mail.

P.S. Perhaps you'll find it useful because techsupport likes dxdiag (as this info usually is enough for all types of tech. problems, and user often doesn't need to answer folowing questions like "Hey, you forgot to tell your videocard's name, could you do it, puleeease?").

P.P.S. Well, we are not techsupport, so don't send it without warning (though you may do this now, as we asked you to do this). Don't frighten people:)

(though its not the demo, but the full version)
Also got some Problems: I just got the game. The beginning works well, but as I walk through the city, it crashes every two, three minutes. I already installed it new, but the same problems occurred. What can I do?

my computer:
Win XP MCE
AMD 3800+ X2
2GB RAM
GeForce7800GT

so it should work, shouldn't it?

(By the way: sry for the terrible English, I'm German)

Author:  Halfgild Wynac [ 28 Apr 2006, 16:50 ]
Post subject:

Yep, I know that you are German 'cos the English version is not out yet:).

Could you please post here exception.txt and the end of engine.log file? These files are both in the folder with the game's .EXE-files.

Upgrading your video card drivers to the latest version will help. pathologic seems to have some issues with older ones.

@ Halfgild Wynac

I can't find any file named "exception.txt"… also not the german translation. The only other txt-File in the foldr is "readme.txt"...
But here's the end of the other …
