The spoiler tag is in case anybody posts something that might spoil the game for others. I'm here because I bought Pathologic on Wednesday. I thought the concept sounded interesting, and the images on the back looked spooky. I tried it for about three hours, and I had a go at both guys, but I just couldn't get into it. The dialogue isn't translated very well, and it makes it a chore to read, when I should be interested in what everyone is saying. I also ended up taking a mission to kill a dwarf, but I let him live. It didn't seem to matter because I ended up "winning". The hardest part was walking, which I don't find particularly challenging. I bought it from GAME, so I now have a week to return it. Before then, I'd like to see if someone can convince me not to. I will try it a couple more times before I take it back, but I won't get much time for that next week - not enough to see everything and give it a real chance. So, can someone tell me how the plot develops? What areas do I end up in? Are there any really chilling moments? (Anything that might make me soil myself). What sets it apart from other games? Is it replayable? Are there any monsters? What about plot twists? How many of the "jobs" just involve walkling from one end of town to the other (like the one above)? Don't be afraid to post spoilers. At this point I need any kind of hook, or the chances are I'll get rid of it, and won't be spoiled anyway. If that's not acceptable on this forum, I guess it might be ok to PM me with the details (posting would be better though, so all the info is in one place). |

Don't return the game - you won't be sorry, if you wanted something different from the mainstream. Quote: So, can someone tell me how the plot develops? What areas do I end up in? The plot is very vomplicated - each of the three stories told uncovers the truth about the epidemic from a different angle, and having completed the entire game, you'll most likely hear the story of each of NPC in the game. Quote: Are there any really chilling moments? Jh yes, there are. ) Some Russian press call the game horror, though it's meant to be a survival adventure. )Quote: How many of the "jobs" just involve walkling from one end of town to the other (like the one above)? This might be a little disappointing, but almost all the time you'll be walking around the entire city a lot.

At first I found the walks really really boring, too. But as the game heats up, those walks will get a lot more interesting. You'll be dodging infected rats, trying to kill armed thieves and insurrectionists and rifling their bodies for inventory -- you can also break into houses with a lock pick and forage for stuff -- trade with the kids inside, etc. Trash receptacles have good stuff for trade in them, but you have to watch out for rats, thieves, mad bombers, and the red and white clouds of plague that will try to infect you. There really doesn't have to be a dull moment if you choose a route which takes you through the hot spots on the map. I found it helpful to start out each day with a new map from Young Vlad. Some side missions require killing -- accept them if you want more of that type of action. |

There will be a mission for a professional Gunslinger - you'll have to place 5 headshots out of 6 bullets in the revolver case. ) |

Ok, that's sounding a little better. Can you elaborate on the scary bits? one or two examples would be awesome. (Liking the idea of dodging infected rats) |

Ok, so I managed to find time today to play for a couple of hours. I decided to play the 2nd male character, whatever his name is. I had a bad rep, so I couldn't buy any supplies from stores. I found some people I coult trade with, but they only had ammo, or lockpicks. It was getting pretty scary, as my hunger and exhaustion bars were getting full. I did two jobs for some kids, one to confront a dwarf, and one to help a guy who's bleeding to death. I had to run all over town to do it. Eventually I managed to improve my reputation so nobody would attack me on sight. Great, so I went to a few shops and bought some food (using all of my money). I ate all that, and rested, so my hunger and exhaustion bars are now only 75% full (!?). It has just got dark, and I decided to go out to find some more money/food. I was hoping to get the bars as low as possible before starting any really long treks or jobs. I saved somewhere, and now whenever I load the game, I walk a few feet and I get interrupted by a video sequence of some paintings, and a guy on a slab. Then it takes me back to the main menu. I'm guessing something bad has happened, but the voice isn't in English, so I have no idea what the F is wrong, and how I can fix it. (No subtitles?) I don't have an earlier game, so right now it looks like I'm totally screwed (and still with no idea why). I have a few items in my inventory, including a bit of fruit. When I eat it an immunity bar appears for like 2 seconds, and then vanishes. It's about 60% full. Could that have something to do with it? I still haven't seen any rats, and some of the dialogue choices seem to have no relation to what the other person has said, or are so vague I have no clue what the 'right' answer is (if any). Right now it looks like I'll be taking it back for sure. I really can't play from the beginning all over again. |

There is some free food - check out the neighbouring thread...Quote: I saved somewhere, and now whenever I load the game, I walk a few feet and I get interrupted by a video sequence of some paintings, and a guy on a slab. The problem is, that you haven't completed the main quest of the first day (You have talked to the Birdmasks, right? They should have told you to head to Big Vlad's house, where he'll give out the main quest and explain the whole situation. It's really hard to understand anything, having not talked to him.). The main quest is only required to be completed on the first day - later on you may ignore it with no consequences whatsoever.I'll report about the cutscene, but you'll have to tell exactly, what version do you posess. The official English one from GMX Media? Quote: Right now it looks like I'll be taking it back for sure. I really can't play from the beginning all over again. I guess, that will be your best choice - this game requires a lot of time to understand, personally, I think that's the fun in it. ) BTW, completing the game for each of the characters takes exactly 24 hours including sleep and reloading at some tough to beat spots. )

Ok, sorry for being so frustrated. I will give it another go this week. So, that video clip is a mistake then? Somebody missed it? I do have th eofficial English version. I bought it from a store called GAME, and it came in a DVD case (no manual - its on the CD). What else do you need to know? I did talk to Vlad, and we spoke about my father. He then sent me to see his daughter, and I was helping out the kids she told me about. I also visited young Vlad, although I don't remember what he told me. One of the characters told me about my father's house, but they also said to avoid it because there were people there. That's why I decided to try and get supplies first before going there. Is that the part I missed? Again, I do like the concept. I think it sounds awesome. I just seem to have really bad luck. |

What else do you need to know? That will be enough info - we'll fix this in a separate patch, since the download size will be equal to the entire video size, which is appr. 16 MB. Quote: Is that the part I missed? Yep. ) You can always check with the current part of the mission by pressing Q (or J, don't remember) to call the journal. Quote: Again, I do like the concept.
