Pathologic is easily one of the greatest games I've ever played, and that's why this problem is bothering me so much.

I've been using 3danalyze to "emulate hw tnl caps", because of my graphics card. Pathologic worked perfectly fine for about 6 months this way.

Unfortunately, I recently updated my directx and now when I play Pathologic the screen constantly flickers to black.

For example: when I load my saved game from the theatre, the screen turns solid black whenever I look towards the front of the room, where the stage is, but if I move my mouse to look at the ground, everything is just fine. It seems that certain lighting effects or textures are causing my screen to mess up.

If anyone has any help for this, it would be great.

Hmm... Try different versions of DirectX

Installation of previous version of DirectX is theoretically impossible. You must uninstall your DirectX, but most of the games will not run. Pathologic supports officially the DirectX 9 and 8. I think... You should install updated and official graphic drivers, then reinstall DirectX.

If you can't go back to a previous DirectX version, it sounds like your only option may be to buy a new graphics card.

I've updated all of my drivers, and unfortunately, I use a laptop and my graphics card can't be removed.

If only I never updated directx..........

What graphic card do you have? You shouldn't use graphic card worse than NVIDIA GeForce 6xxx or similar. So, you should upgrade your RAM too. It's only my opinion.

Not all hope is lost - try to fiddle around with the emulation options - might help.

I use an intel gma 945 graphics card. It's pretty awful, but it ran Pathologic just fine for about 6 months, until I updated the Direct X. Also, I have two gigabytes of Ram, so that's not really a problem

I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with 3d Analyzer, but it's used to get inferior graphics cards to play newer games. Specifically, I think updating my Directx has affected the effectiveness of 3d analyzer. Another game that I run on 3d analyzer is King's Bounty: The Legend, and it's been haveing the same problem as Pathologic ever since I updated DirectX.

http://www.transgaming.com/products/swiftshader/ - I found this recently - looks like it can do the same, only better and faster. Can anyone try this out?
