| Post subject: | Pathologic's cutscenes sound stutter. |
So, in the cutscenes in Pathologic (i.e. intro cinematic) have the problem that sound stutter. However inside the game the audio is normal, at least for the time I have played it. But for me the sound issues in the cutscenes is kinda of a breaker for me, specially for the first cinematics for the Haruspicus. So I was wondering, is it possible to fix it? Yes I have looked inside the forums, but I haven't found anything of use, they mostly talk about in-game sound issues, not cutscenes. Also, I am using Windows 7, could this be the problem? Anyways, thanks for your time, this was my first post actually, and I have registered just for this. Hopefully I shall continue in this community, as apparently it needs and deserves more members. |

Try installing the latest version of OpenAL. http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/ ... Items.aspx Are you using ffdshow or some other codec pack? |

The cutscenes are merely .wmv's stored in "<your install location here>\data\Video" See if you can run the videos outside of the game? |

Bit of a longshot but are you using an NVidia card? When running on XP with an NVidia card I had the same stuttering in the videos while on Vista with an ATI Card it was fine. Driver switching didn't make a difference for me, your best bet is likely to be watching them independently through VLC Media Player. |

Quote: Bit of a longshot but are you using an NVidia card? Yes I am, so apparently it could be the issue. Thanks anyways. But It's kinda of a breaker, as I feel a little uncomfortable to watch a cutscene, skip it thanks to the sound issues, exit the game, access the folder and then launch the game to just watch it well and continue playing. Anyways, thanks.

How peculiar. When I ran Nvidia and XP the game ran just fine (save for the lighting issue). I suppose you've already tried turning down audio quality? I'm sorry, I can only think of this being a hardware issue somewhere :/ |

Anyways, it doesn't really matter, the game as a whole is more important than just a pair of cutscenes that are less than two minutes long. Anyways, thanks to you all.

I have this problem as well (and I have an ATI card). Don't debug as if it were a problem with in-game sound. The *.WMVs are played separately (outside the game). It is apparently an issue with codecs. If you get the right codec combination the problem will go away. I've forgotten how I got mine to work - so post if you find the right codecs and they work. |

I have just experienced the same problem on the latest WinXP system with no alternative codes installed when I tried to run Pathologic for the first time. For me the solution was to update Windows Media Player 9 (i.e. I ran it, it offered me an update and I confirmed it). It is strange that before updating I tried to play the intro video with the old Media Player version I had, and it still played fine. Just posting here in case someone still has this problem and stumbles upon this thread. |
