Post subject:  Ati Graphics Card not accepted?!

hello,
the game crashes on starting a new game,
ive searched the forum but found no help in existing trouble-threads.

bought a german dvd version and installed it,
there was a physx install malfunction, however the game installation was complete
and it said i could install physx manually.

now, i dont have a nvidia card at all, and i cant use physx anyway right?
so i tried to run the game without, then with disabled physx and then with a freshly installed physx.

in any case it was the same scenario, freeze on starting a new game.

the main problem is
the setup wont detect my ati radeon 5770

i have new catalyst control center running and working fine with other games,
recent mainboard drivers
on a xp home edition with sp´s, amd phenom x4 3.0 ghz and 3 gb ram

how come the game setting wont find my ati card?
is it not supported?
there is no patch to be found anywhere...

im really disappointed, but still havent given up hope
anyone got a clue what to do?

Are you talking about The Void/Tension? As far as I know, Pathologic doesn't use PhysX or any kind of physics engine.

I have the HD 5770. I'll check if the games recognize it.

yes "the void",
and it tried to install ageia physx aswell as direct 3d 8

i deinstalled everything again, then reinstalled new d3d,
new physx, the void, no change :(

i got it running now, by putting a hook in game-settings V-Sync!

it still wont let me enable antialiasing or anisotropic filtering in those settings
and wont communicate with my graphics-card in those settings,
but im trying to override it in catylyst control center´s 3d settings,
telling it to ignore application settings and have everything up to maximum there.

loaded the game having this turned off and on and its seems to work out this way
as i have a noticable improvement in texture details, changing the 3d settings manually.
the light effetcs appeared to be the same though.

how far does the antialiasing go in the game?
is it bad in any way if i turn those settings too high?
i have anti alais at 8x and anisotropic at 16x
triple filtering enabled
