Having searched online for a couple hours and done the suggested fixes suggested by both the esteemed LxR and Halfgild Wynac, I still find myself unable to surpass the black screen whenever I start up the game. I've changed the Fsystems save and cache locations times beyond counting and I've reinstalled the game + drivers + phys drivers several times as well (not to mention DX). Am I missing something? In my experience (don't quote me on this), there's only a few reasons why a game will not run at all on a computer. 1) Don't fulfil the requirements. Are you certain you meet at least every single minimum requirement? Are you running the right operating system? Do you have the right version? ie. PC version for PC, Mac for mac? 2) Corrupt files. Usually uninstalling and reinstalling fixes this. If it doesn't, and you're fine on all other points, its possible you have some other sort of file issue somewhere on your pc. If you're running Vista, check in all those hidden temp files and delete any old The Void files before reinstalling. 3) There's something wrong with the disc. Though if it managed to install, I doubt this is your problem. |

Bleh, I wish it were one of those reasons you listed. But.......... I more than exceed minimum req. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and checked game cache integrity on steam a bunch of times with no result...(no discs) and I'm running xp. |

In your first post, Kraeloc, you say you've tried the fsystems.xml fix - which has worked for most people - and your log seems to show this. Your video card meets all requirements and is way above minimum spec. So yeah, it's very strange (and it sucks). IPL guys are pretty busy at the moment, but I'll see if they have any suggestions. |

You should look what does the game's engine say in Logfiles/exception.txt . That's what the game creates each time it crashes. The log doesn't show any problems and contains no errors. The warnings actually state the trivial fact that game's Cache, Logs and Saves are stored in folders rather than in single "virtual file system" archives. My memory is extremely shabby at the area devoted to The Void's requirements and most likely issues... Yet, as far as I remember, you need 1. your video card's drivers 2. PhysX (be careful, as its setup files tends to install PhysX if you don't have it and uninstall if you do). 3. Administrator Privileges 4. maybe, turn UAC off. I don't think you need something else on a system like yours, the one with a pretty good videocard. The game goes as far as to recognize your video chipset supports Pixel Shader 3.0., which is the maximum the game may want from your card's pixel shader model. |
