Post subject:  Linux: getting this game to run in Wine

Hi.
Has anyone managed to get this game to run in Linux? The Wine AppDB page was not terribly helpful... It installs fine but crashes after the first cutscene. If anyone's succeeded, could you please let us know how you did it?
Thanks :)
Code:
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x33de34,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:d3d9:D3DPERF_SetOptions (0x1) : stub
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_CreateQuery (0x15c610) Unhandled query type 6
fixme:ntdll:NtLockFile I/O completion on lock not implemented yet
fixme:d3d9:Direct3DShaderValidatorCreate9 stub
fixme:dsalsa:IDsDriverBufferImpl_SetVolumePan (0x355eed0,0x355f810): stub

I've been trying to get this working on my Macbook via Crossover just for funsies, however I think my MacBook doesn't have the some of the minimum requirements because it crashes and mentions something about shaders. It looks as if it would work otherwise though.

Edit: Been messing with it some more, I think my issue centers around the GMA 950 card in my macbook and wether or not it is supported. So, it may work on Wine if it *almost* works on my mac through Crossover through Wine.

Edit2: Does this have any relevancy to anything? I found the log file and these were the errors that appeared, although I'm unsure if they're game stopping errors..

I believe the main reason is PhysX lacking drivers for anything but Windows. And the game's physics is powered by PhysX. You won't probably have the game running on othet platforms if you cannot make DirectX 9.0c and PhysX work there.

Well, they seem to install properly. I took a look at the log file and compared it to the one I found off of my PC and it seems the game stops right at detection of pixel and vertex shaders.

On the GMA 950 chip, the one in my first gen macbook, vertex shaders are done in hardware with support up to 2.0 and pixel is done in software, with theoretical support up to 2.0, so.. yeah.

I'm still curious to see if beyond that it would work on a mac or linux box.

I believe it is actually a deeper issue in the engine, as Pathologic doesn't run under Unix based operating systems either. I tried the screen saver / tech-demo a while back and couldn't get it to work.

I managed to run the game under newest CrossOver Games on MacOS 10.6 on my MBP - aaaand everything was perfectly fine until I got to the chambers of any sister except the first one, when the game invariably crashed. I still have no idea what was the cause, since everything had been working until then. The only solution I could come up with was installing Windows, so... yeah.
