is subtitles in the outro

not all the people who play the english version are also from english speaking country, so it gets pretty tough understanding anything of what the dude in outro says without subtitles. understanding the words themselves is ok but paying attention to what someone says in english and then trying to imagine it behind a poem is really difficult

I've downloaded Throdax's extracted audio files, so I could transcribe the outro poems if you'd like. Which Sister's ending are you partial to?

The original Russian poems by Maximilian Voloshin were a tough nut to crack. The thing you hear is, in fact, an edited and adapted version, so it's surprising you still have trouble. The first version of the translation is even more bizzare.

You're missing the point and being condescending for no reason. Some people don't speak English as their native language and need subtitles because it's possible to misunderstand spoken English (the voice actor's accent/particular enunciation contributes to this). There's nothing wrong with their intelligence.

What I wanted to say is that there is no point to put grammatical consistency over styled wordplay for the subtitles are wanted still.

Nobody's criticizing the translation. It's just that some people may not catch all the words the first time (unless they replay the ending cutscene over and over). Never mind non-native speakers, even native speakers sometimes miss a few words in the lyrics of a song or similar--just take a look at this archive of funny misheard lyrics website. So you've got someone hearing "Might as well face it, you're a dick with a glove" when it's actually "Might as well face it, you're addicted to love."

I second subtitles for everything. I'm a native english speaker, and I find it hard to catch everything that's said (or rather, whispered) in this game. At reasonable audio levels, some of the whispered speech is just too quiet to hear properly.

Pyrofennec's song lyrics example is spot on. Even if they weren't whispering all the time, I'd still like subtitles.

(Don't get me wrong, I like the whispering Adds to the dream-like feel.)

And what is so surprising about that Mr. ? Not everybody speaks fluent English and even if one does, subtitles are much of a help, especially when in need to understand poems, which were originally Russian btw! I really did miss subtitles in the end and never was able to understand completely what the poems said.

For understanding a poem you need to read it once and then second time so you can think about it and eventually catch the true meaning / metaphor, which is rather difficult if someone catches every second word.
