I'm curious because, much like many fans of the game I'm sure, I'd like to see the game do well enough that IPL will keep translating their future projects in English. So far the game's gotten some attention at sites like Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, and Destructoid, but it seems to be a blip on the radar otherwise. :/ I was hoping to see it win a Game of the Year somewhere at least. |

I count the fact it had a 3 page spread in UK PC Gamer a highly encouraging sign. If it was just a blip it would have got half a page at most. |

So far nobody I've talked to has heard of it. What's really frustrating is that its a hard game to know who to recommend it to. I have one friend who I think would appreciate the atmosphere but may or may not be able to stand the slow mechanics and who is pretty conservative about nudity and might or might not be okay with it. I have another friend I recommended it to who really loves resource management and will probably appreciate the game itself, and will appreciate the artiness on a basic level but doesn't care as much about philosophical stuff. (It does look like he's going to buy it but he wants a hard copy and it wasn't really clear where to get it from, and neither he nor I had heard of Mamba before yesterday, so he was feeling a little nervous about ordering from there. Is a more main stream place one could order a hard copy from? Also, hard copy seemed a lot more expensive, which makes sense, but I wasn't sure if it was always like that or that was just the particular retailer he was looking at.) |

A physical copy is £7.99 at Amazon.co.uk or Play.com. As for Mamba, I purchased from them. Delivery took a while as they had to re-stock, but the service was good. They're still doing free international shipping, AFAIK. |

My problem is that I know a lot of people who would appreciate the game visually, artistically, and literarily--but they are none of them gamers (or are casual gamers). They'd probably enjoy watching me play, but getting them to buy a copy and install it... yeah, no. Even some gamers are scared off by the difficulty/learning curve, especially those used to "playing a game for the story." They're accustomed to brain-dead quest compasses, clicking once to win, sliding difficulty all the way back to "Five-year-old Friendly."

I gifted it to a friend during the Steam holiday sale (which is when I picked it up, incidentally, totally on a whim. I found it on Steam browsing through the "adventure" games that were marked down for the sale. It looked interesting and I said "why not?") I have no idea if he'll like it. He mostly plays FPSes and the occasional RTS or RPG. But the game is damned interesting and I really want to be able to talk to someone about it in real life! |
