I ran into a mycelium creature in Uta's part of the void, on one of the reservations. In case you can't put a finger on what I am thinking of, they're the creatures with the long noses that you give color to and supposedly give you color back (or something else, which is why I am posting). When I give them color, even a lot, like 20-30 in a single shot, I don't see anything happening. Any tips on what I am doing wrong, or what to expect? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And by the way, Ice Pick Lounge: this is a very compelling game; keep up the great work and don't change your ways of going against the grain when creating games.

I think you're talking about the Summoners :) When you give them Color, it makes mushrooms sprout to the surface in the surrounding area. They're highlighted by beams of light. You can harvest these mushrooms by running up to them and clicking the RMB. They will disappear back into the ground after a short time, but the more Color you give to the Summoner, the longer they're visible for.

The creatures which you can suck dry to gain colour receive that colour amount from the overall location lympha given at the time of the global world update. This update distributes lympha for plants as well as the creatures (only some predators do not receive their colour from this system). So if there is no colour in the chamber, there won't be any "mushrooms". If there is some lympha inside, it may still be kept only in flying creatures.

P.S. It is "LODGE", not "LOUNGE". Ice-Pick Lodge. Honestly. If you don't believe, compare my variant with the header on the page of this forum

Ice-Pick Lounge could be the relaxed, Sunday afternoon, non-crunch version of the studio :)

Sorry about screwing up the company name. I suppose "lodge" does sound more fitting, more sinister, than "lounge". I've never even heard of the company prior to this game (though, I did just pick up a copy of "Pathologic", but have yet to try it), which makes sense, I guess, seeing as how they are from Russia. It is nice to see the smaller developers making quality games that can keep up with those made by bigger ones.

Anyway, back to the topic. So, you call them Summoners. I was under the impression (that I got from the sister who spoke to me as I approached the creature for the first time) that when I gave the Summoner color the result would be in that area (I was only searching for the results in that area). So are you saying that it is global, that by giving color to a summoner it will spawn more color in other areas in the void, but only at the beginning of a cycle when new color usually appears?

No, it is local. e.g. The Summoner in 'Heathen' will only reveal mushrooms in 'Heathen.'

And they will be shown right away (as long as there's actually enough Color for them - as Halfgild said).

So your saying that I should wait to go on my killing spree in the reservation until after I visit the Summoner, because all the color that it releases goes into the already existent plants and creatures that I can collect color from (either from killing or picking). Is my thinking correct?

No. At the start of the cycle, a certain amount of Color will be put into that location, distributed between the creatures and the mushrooms. So killing the creatures (or not) will have no effect on the Color you get from the plants.

I think that I just solved my problem. It seems that I wasn't close enough to get the selection indicator, however that brings me to another problem. The message that the indicator gives says that "the summoner will regenerate in a few cycles (or something along the usual "cannot be used for a while" message), however, it is my first time in the zone--I know this for sure because of the dialogue that triggers once I enter is still there (I kept reloading trying to figure my old problem out). Should the summoner not be available to me when I first find them? Is this a bug of some sort?

That's fine :) The first time you encounter the Summoner, he/she/it will not be available to you. Come back in a few cycles and grab those mushrooms.
