Hello,

I want to ask, if there is a way to modify the textures or models in The Void :)

Are there any working tools or editors I can use to open the files? Is it possible to increase the lifetime of the Void?

You can use the Pathologic/The Void VFS extraction utility to browse the in-game resources and edit them.

You can easily replace the textures. Extract textures.vfs to game\data\Textures, then rename the correspondent texture from *.tex to *.dds; You can use Mass rename in Total Commander to rename everything.

http://www.nvidia.ru/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html - use nVidia Photoshop plug-in to open DDS files in Photoshop.

As for models, that would be difficult...

Thank you :) but I get I/O Errors, when I select a file to be extracted :(

edit: ok, I was able to extract the files, which one are die model-files? :)

The model files are in the prefabs vfs - inding with *.pre and *.bap, but you will not be able to edit them, most likely, as they are compiled.

I wanted to extract sounds, but I'm also getting I/O Errors.
Anyone know how can I fix this?

I don't think it's supposed to work. Pathologic and The Void have a different vfs file structure, that extractor always gives me an IO error with The Void files.

I will look up, how the programs name was :) (just formatted my computer :P)


I think it was the "total commander" with a plug-in for extracting the vfs files, but I will search for it to be sure :)
