*Possible Spoilers*

So I'm one of those "Games-are-art Hippies", and The Void is right up my alley. It's a shame this game isn't better known, exactly the kind of game I love to love, and I felt I just had to talk to someone about it. Which means you all have to put up with my musings ;) Sorry.

So, I managed to complete the game via ascending a Sister today. I failed twice before, the first time starving myself of Color burning too many at once without a proper supply figured out (didn't help that I got my first garden eaten at almost full stock), and the second time I failed the Mining task. I'm a little ashamed I refered to SA's Let's Play for help with that.

The timing of Mantid's "you've failed" quest led me to believe that the brothers would duel you for giving the sisters *any* hearts, I didn't realize you were "safe" to give them two to go about your business. I will note here that his "He's not one of us Brothers" speech doesn't make clear what you did wrong. As I am sure you are all aware, that's just how this game plays.

Anyway, today I got three sisters "ready" and had killed all but one Brother and I was freaking out because it was getting down to the wire, I hadn't uncovered the last Glyph and it wouldn't let me duel the last brother. I wasted a ton of time tracking him down too since he was Wanderer and didn't have a temple. So again, I turned to the boards for a hint and got a rather nice "Don't want to spoil it, just wait a little longer" which is exactly what I needed. It would have been nice if the game itself gave you an indication that "everything is fine, just play it cool for a few more cycles".

I have mixed feeling about touching on the technical "issues" because I don't want to offend the developers (I myself, work at a company that makes games sometimes I wish I had a few more months to iron out), and honestly any gamer who complains about the technical rough edges had better be reviewing in a profession capacity or they just don't understand where this game is coming from. I'm so glad this game was made, here's to hoping Ice-Pick can afford a 100,000 man hours of beta testers next round. The changes made between the 2008 and 2009 releases speak volumes about the desire for quality.

I have two questions for anyone still reading: First is, how do you paint Breakthrough on yourself at the Adit? I have the same setup as I did for Ascending the three Sisters so I'm probably not missing any Nerva.

Secondly, towards the end of the game (cycle 20+) I got some vicious *vicious* predators pop up in The Bridge (Garden off of Ima, I think). One kind is a little piranha plant baited with delicious Color, which surprised me, but the screaming glowing flapping bat-skeleton things that hide as a plant sapling scared the shit out of me. Sadly the things send my frame rate into the low single digits so fighting them is out of the question and they do a hell of a lot of damage for a predator that gets to start in Melee range. Yes, there's a question coming, sorry; Are these things unique to The Bridge, Random part of the end game, or something triggered, like by using too much color? I never saw them in any other zone, and for the last ten rounds of the game it sat with half a garden's worth of color I was too scared to make a grab for. I mean, I went back once or twice with a full palette but always ended up leaving with scraps and barely more color than I went in with.

Reach Turgor in the Void, and then enter. The rest is self-explanatory.

They appear in damaged chambers, especially towards the end.
I never encountered them tbh, as I didn't need gardens as I neared the end, I lived on mines.

I'm gonna use your thread to point my impressions as well... this could be the "IMPRESSIONS THREAD" xD

First of all the good stuff, which is, almost everything.
Man, i've said this so many times to my friend's that it's tiring me but this game reminds me A LOT of MDK, and that's an AWESOME thing.
Voice Acting: Superb (I cannot stress this enough, those prayers, the endings, the sleeper, brothers, sisters, everything in the english version is top notch)
Gameplay: Difficult but with an acceptable learning curve, after that it's awesome to kill brothers.
Replay Value: You can play this a looot of times, kinda made me remember Chrono Trigger, not only because of the multi-endings but because you can play it in many ways, there's NO ORDER.
Story: UNIQUE!, intriguing and dark, I just loved it.
Sound: Atmospheric as few, great mixture of darkness and suspense.

Now for the not-so good stuff:
Mainly there's only TWO things.
First of all, while the music is great and suites the game perfectly, it woul've been nice to have a few more upbeat songs, kind of like the Smithy-sister.
Secondly, While the game is SO well thought and original, I don't think the glyphs were as good as they could be. I mean the're were a lot of similar ones, maybe you could've made some brothers more vulnerable to some glyphs or something like that.

Asides from that, the only missing thing is to thanks you guys, for one of the best experiences I've had in gaming since a long time!

Cheers from Argentina!

I assume it's safe to post complete spoilers here.

Is there an ending discussion thread that I didn't see? I finished the game by ascending myself and ascending a sister (Eli), and it was just like... that one city we keep seeing and a poem. Okay.

I might go back a few (dozen) saves and try instead to ascend the Namless Sister, which is apparently hard mode, but I think it's the "right" thing to do because she's the only sister capable of sacrifice.

Did anyone else expect the connections between the chambers in the void to break when it was squirming at the end? That would have been sad. The void looked distant but not obviously different as it was descending/the camera was ascending.
