Reinstalled WIndows 7, 64 Bit, reinstalled WIndows 7, 32 Bit, problems stays. Been there, done that.
Feels like I read every thread in the world about this topic and I am getting tired of it. The problem surfaces in several forums and, obviously, it is NOT a Mac-related-problem as Steam and developers first wanted to make me believe. I think "The Void" urgently needs a fix here. Every other game runs without a flaw on my computer, be it Mac or PC.
When I buy a product for money I expect it to work. If it does not work I have the right to a replacement or my money back. Or would anyone (who is right in his mind) who buys a new car/computer/toaster/whatsoever that does not perform what it is supposed to do, do the repairs himself...?

I am still hunting the forums here to see if i can find any more ideas but my boyfriend got me this game after i threatened to not give him any for 3 months and i'm getting the 'Can't create game module: Cannot get path to "Shared Documents" error. Now, I've tried editing the fsystems.xml and changing {shdocs} to {documents} and changing the path to something like c:/void ect. And I can't understand why for the life of me it won't work because i'm just running it on windows xp and my bf is running it on windows 7 and HIS works. it's like no matter what i do it gives me that error. I don't know if maybe it's because i have service pack 3 or something but i just find it strange that even on regular windows xp i can't get it to work. So this is not just a windows 7 problem OR a mac problem. I am going to test this out on my other pc that has like service pack 2 on and see if that makes any difference. btw happy 4th!
Could you please find game.log in My Documents/My Games/Void. Are there any errors inside?
the game hasn't gotten that far. it won't install because it can't find the shared documents/ documents folder. the void is almost done downloading on my other pc. that one has a shared documents folder shortcut in my computer that this one for some reason doesn't have. i'll let you guys know if it installs on that one and if so the only thing i can think of is that this has something to do with service pack 3 at least in my case. one other note thou is that with my bf he changed the {shdocs} part and put several different paths there and it made a cache folder where ever he specified. he even eliminated it and it put the files right where the xml file was located. i'm wondering if my problem is something else or what. maybe a different file needs to be tweaked.
~update~
ok i fought with my pc and beat the 'bleep' out of it and managed to nab another HDD, puting a fresh reinstall of xp on it and using the other for a storage drive. The game works perfectly even though i'm running it off another drive. Apparently in the old installation the shared documents folder was redirecting it's self to dip's documents (USERNAME'S documents) and confusing it's self into thinking that user's documents folder was the shared folder. I don't know how it happened i can only guess it was a desktop.ini virus that did it. The log file was created in E:(the drive with the new installation of windows the old is C)/documents and settings/USERNAME/my documents/my games/void/log files. the game files them selves are on the C drive. I don't know how old your installation of windows 7 is my bf's is pretty new maybe a month or so but it seems that even the slightest change in file directories will cause this problem. Even with a mac emulator i'm sure windows will get screwy over time. I'm thinking that like in my case it couldn't find the shared documents folder, it might not be able to find your username's documents folder to store the log file, or where it would be generally stored on windows 7/vista. I really think it's a simple problem like that. I hope you guys having difficulties are able to solve it but if your installation is old like mine was and it's not to much of a bother, a clean install might fix it like it did for me. GL peoples~
