I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on the symbols in the map screen and the ones in the bottom left of the screen that appear randomly. I get sometimes it's journal notes but sometimes it happens for apparently no reason.

I think the white hands are optional side quests and the red pertain to the main task is that right? And the white circling is places of importance?

The symbols that appear in the lower left corner of the screen are for journal entries and letters! Make sure you check your letters when one appears "for apparently no reason" :) As for the hand prints, yes, the red ones are related to the main quest and the white ones to optional quests. I still don't know what the circles are for, they seem to serve pretty much the same purpouse as the white hands.

You're welcome! I kept forgetting about letters when I first started playing as well. Enjoy your game and tell us how it went :)

It's already quite gruelling and my eyebrows shot up when I saw the 10x price increase in food...I suspect it's not gonna get easier =P

Is there anywhere to get good clothes/ weapons I should know about or do they only become available later?

Oh one quick question, what the **** are those things with domed heads? they are weird o.O

Weapons can only be bought from Gryph (his location is marked on the map), but they'll always cost you an arm and a leg. Now, the good news is that it is possible to receive weapons in several quests throughout the game. The bad news is that you usually have to pick a particular conversation option to get them, and it's not always obvious which one. As a rule, if someone mentions guns and you can continue on the same topic, do so. There's also a game guide, if you feel like playing *like that* (I did, but it's probably not the best way to appreciate the game).

The clothes are a bit easier to get, but the good stuff only appears in stores during the last few days, and they're pricey as well. You'll be able to... come across them in other ways if you're lucky, though. I'm not sure how much you know about the game so I'm trying not to spoil it :)

Not sure I know what things with domed heads are you referring to, probably the "worms"? They're steppe creatures, you'll find out bits of information about them from dialogues if you pay attention (as with everything in the game).

Those things =/

And thanks, funnily enough I just did the Day 2 mission to meet Gryph, I got a reveolver free =3 but I kinda wish I sold it on day 2 as it's now halved in value.

They are called Odong and they are adorable little tribal folks that enjoy feeding warm blood to the Earth ♥

Precious little darlings I think, wonderful source of rep later in the game.

Yeah I've just met some lol. By the way, is there any reason for the secondary image on the map screen? it's just changed to the village and then the village with "roots" but I don't see the purpose of it.

Do you mean when you click the symbol on the map? It's purely symbolic and left open to interpretation. It's meant to represent your character's thoughts on the situation.

I also remember reading that someone (Quinns?) was completely terrified by it. So that's purpose enough :)

I kinda understand the town thing with it eventually showing the roots of the disease, but what's with the jars etc when you start the game? Do the other characters have stuff relevant to them in place of the medicines?
