Despite having purchased a bunch of new PS3 games over the last few weeks, I find myself putting all of my time into The Void. It is an amazing piece of work. I actually look forward to getting to a point where I feel stuck, because eventually something clicks in my head, and I end up restarting the game with this new revelation, and it makes playing through the same beginnings even more enjoyable.

Anyways, my question is about combat. I'm only at the point where the first brother attacks me after I fail his test to kill the Pangolin. I have the Hawk glyph, but I think that's the only combat one I possess. Is it better to fire off a bunch of charged up Hawks, even though they miss half the time and bounce around for a few minutes before hitting him? Or should I use regular color attacks. I used up about 90 percent of my palette last night and I was only able to get him about 1/2 way down. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

Regular colour attacks are useless against brothers.

Use hawk and try to time it well so you miss less.

Such is the beauty and horror of The Void: every single missed attack is color forever lost. Not to mention the OTHER repercussions of such wastefulness...

You need to a) use glyphs to attack, b) try to hit with the highlighted color on the wheel to do double damage, and c) miss as little as is humanly possible.

Well, if I was graded on being wasteful, in this fight, I would receive an A. I'm a little confused as to how to determine where the Hawk is going to go. I'll draw the glyph, but then I have to point the color at the enemy to get him to attack, and if the brother is swinging around, I can't point at where he is going to be, I have to target him, but by the time the hawk launches, he's missed the brother. Grr.

Each time you paint a brother the hawk will change its course to that point, so you can change its course mid flight. Try to paint the brother when hawk is on the first fly by next to him.
