 Post subject: Game Crashes On Start

Hi, folks,

I'm trying to even get The Void running, but when I start it in Steam, it immediately crashes, and will not start. :(

Has anyone else run into this issue, and found a solution? Thanks.

Basically, there may be two major issues:
- the game was mostly completed before NVIDIA bought AGEIA. You do need an old "pre-NVIDIA" driver that is in a package. What is funny about this driver, you should carefully read what its installer says, as it will INSTALL driver in case you don't have it, and REMOVE it if you do :mrgreen: WRONG!!! I'm really sorry! I asked our programmer and then checked this myself. The game works perfectly well with new drivers.
- the game was developed for DirectX9, and it's better to have its latest version. No, your DirectX 11 doesn't mean anything :) An outdated dx9 can very well exist on the PC with dx10 or dx11.

Game keeps its logs in "My Documents/My Games/Void", so to address your problem our programmers will need game.log and exception.txt (the latter is generated only when the game crashes, usually in-game).

Also it would be nice to have your dxdiag - you may run it from the search string at Start menu (under Vista) or Start-Run (under XP).

There is configuration utility in game's bin folder (where game.exe is). Can you launch it?

P.S. The latest videocard drivers may also help.

I'v bought it through steam and had no problems exept for the sound.

What do you mean with a old "pre-Nvidia" driver? I have the latest drivers and one of the newer cards wich has PhysX (GTX 280. Well old by now already.. lol)
The steam version has a PhysX installer aswell in it's directory's, you could try installing it from there.

But it might be Directx then perhaps. I can't say, as i'm running DirectX 10 on Winxp. Perhaps uploading a DXdiag for others to see might give you more answers..

Aaah... Sorry. That's obsolete info. I asked our programmer once again; I was wrong. It requires new nvidia drivers. I downloaded the new version myself, and the game actually works with them.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem but it came up just after I installed a BFG Ageia Physx Card in my system.
The game was running without problems before using the PhysX drivers from the CD.
I had to install an older driver because for some reason the version of the PhysX Software
on the Game CD does not support the older PPU units from Ageia. I'll try to use some other drivers and report the results.
